Roots and Shoots Goes Wild! 2026

We're excited to invite you to Roots and Shoots' annual autumnal community event, Roots and Shoots Goes Wild!, on Sunday, October 4th. Join us to celebrate the season in style with wildly fun activities, engaging creative workshops, scrumptious local food, an enlightening talk and tour, and stalls filled with garden delights.

In the Wild Garden, get stuck in and help us renew our wildflower meadow with a seed disco, a wand-making activity with the team from 575 Wandsworth Road, and discover our brand new area under the pergola where some fantastic musicians will be playing.

Brilliant creative activities include a dried flower and mask-making workshop with our artistic florist, a moth and bat-wing making workshop, and a meet-and-greet with Tom's Talking Reptiles and wild beasties. As always, our rockstar storytellers will return for a seasonal story and sing-a-long, and our favourite neighbour the mechanical dragon will be producing bubbles, roars and joy all day.

Roots and Shoots' own chefs will be serving up delicious plates using fresh produce straight from our kitchen garden, alongside local Walcot Stores sandwiches, as well as homemade cakes and other treats.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Roots and Shoots is a flourishing oasis that has transformed a once-polluted brownfield site into a thriving habitat for both people and wildlife. This year’s event features a talk and tour from our Environment Lead Rosie, showing us how how the site has been developed and gardened for wildlife and climate resilience. Our Gardener Lucy will be putting on a delightful spread of plants for sale, grown in our nursery by staff and students at affordable prices.
