Family Volunteering Club August 2026
Join The Family Volunteering Club in our Wild Garden and help us to grow new plants by collecting seedheads, extracting their seeds, and preparing to take herb cuttings. Parents and children will work together to help the Roots and Shoots' garden thrive, whilst learning about nature and caring for living things.
In August, we will focus on practical gardening tasks like:
Making new plants from plants we already have in the garden (propagating)
Collecting seedheads from plants in the garden, and sorting the seed ready to be sown in Autumn.
Washing pots, mixing soil, sieving compost and filling seed trays for taking plant cuttings
Watering and feeding plants to help them grow

The sessions will be run by one of our lovely horticulture team, so all family volunteers can get stuck in regardless of age or gardening experience. All tools are provided, and we advise wearing comfy clothes that families are happy to get a bit muddy in, and to dress for the weather whether that's sun hats or raincoats!
What families will do:
Help us make a more beautiful garden for next year with new plants
Learn about plant life cycles and how to propagate herbs
Take home a few herb cuttings to grow in your kitchen, balcony or garden
Water and feed plants to help them through the summer heat
