City & Guilds NVQ Level 1 Distributive Operations (Retail)
Benefiting from having our own on-site shop, where we sell our own apple juice and honey, Roots and Shoots also provide training for reception/security duties needed to staff our busy centre and hire facilities.
The students receive practical first-hand experience to compliment the centre training in a focused learning environment, including Money management, Manual Handling, First Aid etc.
In common with the Horticulture Course it is portfolio and assessment based, with no examination. The course comprises six units selected from:
- Move goods and material manually- Keep stock at required levels
- Wrap and pack goods for customers
- Help keep the work place secure
- Help keep the work place healthy and safe
- Work effectively
- Keep the workplace clean and hygienic
- Keep equipment in good working order.
Each unit is broken down into several elements.
This is a valuable introduction to shop, stores or warehousing work covering areas which will be needed if the student decides to go on to work in any of these areas.
