Linda Philips MBE
Director The Roots and Shoots Director founded the charity in 1982 after qualifying in Horticulture at RBG Kew. Linda was awarded an MBE for services to young people in the 2012 New Year Honours.
Issy is responsible for the running of the office, marketing and bookings. She also coordinates the catering team and The Magpie Kitchen.
Andrew is the first person you see when you come into Roots and Shoots. He works front-of-house, provides administration support to the office & education department, liaises with students, parents
David Sawyer MBE
David has been a valued member of Roots and Shoots for over 20 years. He is responsible for our finance accounts. In Feb 2018, David will be awarded an MBE in recognition of his continued volunteering
Dr. David Perkins
Environmental Education and Wildlife Gardens Manager since 1999. Maintaining and developing the wildlife garden and other areas for the benefit of urban biodiversity and the human diversity.
Sarah is Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for Horticulture and Floristry as well as Garden/Nursery Assistant
Operations Manager at Roots & Shoots.
Matt’s role is to oversee the running of the Study Programme and Schools Links Project
Angela oversees the whole education programme from assessment to achievement, working alongside the Operations Manager to help each young person reach their full potential.
Amanda is our horticulture trainer and runs the Grow, Cook and Eat course at Rosendale Road Allotments in Herne Hill.
Nancy is a Speech and Language therapist who has always had a passion for working with and supporting young people and adults.
Job Coach at Roots and Shoots.
Tarik’s role is to support trainees and Interns with paid and unpaid work experience as well as building up a database of employers.
Lila is the Employability Skills Teacher and also works as a Job Coach at Roots and Shoots. She helps our students prepare for the world of work. Lila is a qualified Career Counsellor.
School Links Tutor. Joe works with the School Links groups from local secondary schools on improving their employability skills and projects in the gardens and greenhouse. Joe also works as LSA.

Jane is an MA artist and trained teacher who has worked on community horticulture projects with adults and young people for many year.
Phillip is our onsite chef who caters for our many clients who book our venue. With over 30 years of experience, he has provided many with delicious dishes. Phillip also organises The Magpie Kitchen
