Linda Phillips MBE

Roots and Shoots Director Linda founded the charity in 1982 after qualifying in Horticulture at RBG Kew. She was awarded an MBE for services to young people in the 2012 New Year Honours.

Ruth Mitchell

Education Co-ordinator Ruth is responsible for managing the education programmes and the delivery to trainees. She is also a trainer/assessor.

David Perkins

David runs Roots and Shoots Environmental Education programme and our outreach. He manages the wild garden and works alongside the London Beekeepers Association.

Greg Smith

Greg is responsible for horticulture training and also manages and gardens the site. He is also a trainer/assessor.

Matt Brownlee

Matt looks after recruitment, inductions, liaising with employers, work placements and Moving On. He also teaches Preparation for Employment.

Contact Matt

Elsa Cole

Elsa looks after all the administration. She is also responsible for management information systems, data management and facilities management.

Hayley Topley

Hayley is the first person you meet when visiting Roots and Shoots. She looks after reception, hall bookings and events and also invoicing and financial data input.

Carlene Johnson

Carlene is a former trainee who did very well and has been our catering assistant for events, meetings and conferences for more than four years.

Amanda Rew

Amanda runs the Grow, Cook and Eat course at Rosendale Road Allotments in Herne Hill.

David Sawyer

David is a Brighton resident who is also a trustee. He is our volunteer finance manager.
